Ingredients
1 cup basmati rice
1/2 cup split yellow mung dal
1 tablespoon ghee
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
4 cups water
Salt to taste
Fresh cilantro for garnish
Preparation
Rinse rice and mung dal thoroughly.
In a large pot, heat ghee and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
Add turmeric and ginger, sauté for a minute.
Add rice and mung dal, sauté for another couple of minutes.
Add water and salt, bring to a boil, then simmer until rice and dal are soft.
Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
